Matthew 15:13: “And He replied, ‘Every plant that My heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.’”

What we have here is a determined God, not a God folding His hands and hoping for the best. He is working. He is focused, and He is saying: whatever does not originate from Him, He is going to uproot.

When you read the book of Hebrews, it says God is going to once again shake the heavens and the earth, and that the only things that will remain are the things that cannot be shaken—things that belong to God (Hebrews 12:26–27). We are talking about God coming, determined to do a work, and saying, “Whatever I have not planted will be uprooted.”

Let’s talk about it when it comes to our lives. What are the things that the Father has not planted in our lives? That, of course, includes sin. The book of Hebrews again says, “Let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets us” (Hebrews 12:1). That tells you that the weights the Father has not put on you, and the sins, have to be done with.

And God is determined here. He says, “Every plant”—everything that you think is standing now, that you think, “Oh, this is just there, it cannot be moved.” No. The only thing that will stand at the end is the kingdom of God.

Look at the picture we have from the book of Daniel, where there was this stone cut without hands, and you have this structure that is standing—solid structure, enormous, imposing structure—that you cannot even imagine will just disappear. But a stone cut without hands came and smashed the feet, and it was only a matter of time; you looked for it, and you could not find it (Daniel 2:31–35, 44–45).

“Every plant that My heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.” That is a divine promise. It talks about God’s work now, God’s work in the future, God’s work in the past. Every plant—not some plant—every plant that My Father did not plant. If He is not the originator of it, then its days are numbered.

You can also apply that to our lives. What has the Father not planted? I do not know what you are experiencing now that has not been planted by the Father; its days are numbered. And Jesus did not tell us when that is going to happen. He just says: this is the operating principle. The Father has not planted it, so its days are numbered.

That addiction—the Father has not planted it; its days are numbered. That relationship, that sin‑hook on us, that demonic infestation—the Father has not planted it; its days are numbered. That sickness—the Father has not planted it; its days are numbered. It will be uprooted.

That sin, that sickness, whatever that is—the Father has not planted it, so it will be uprooted. Not just cut down. Uprooted. There will be zero hope for a resurgence. That is what we are talking about.

So I am applying this word, which in its context is talking about the Pharisees, but I see this as how it is going to be: the Father has not planted it, and so it will be uprooted.

We are going to say, “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.”
